Fit Bride, Cherie // So Many Words for That One Word

CHERIE-3"yes." How much joy can be found in that three lettered word?

As many of you know: I'm engaged! And ecstatic to share a little glimpse of the day it happened:

Of course the first words to come out of my best friend's mouths were... "EEEEEK, tell me, how'd he do it?" I think it deserves a good bit from the beginning though. Let me just first say that engagement is something Lee and I have been discussing, so I know that we were both on the same page in terms of our hearts and ambitions for the future, but guessing that moment is impossible. As normal, I went to bed with the expectation of starting off Monday like any other: CrossFit, blogging, errands and what not. It turned out like this >> Me waking up to the sound of someone (Lee) coming into my room at 6am informing me it was time to wake up and get dressed, we were going to Charleston! (Charleston has always had a soft spot on Lee and I's hearts after a trip last year to see the harmful city.) Dazed and confused I struggled to put my makeup on and headed out the door. We spent the day visiting our favorite views and stores. I would be lying if I said I wasn't expecting great things to come of the day, but by 3 o' clock I thought to myself: maybe today isn't the day. We were exhausted, our feet were on fire from walking mile after mile, and honestly I had forgotten all about the possibility.

Once we finished our stroll away from Rainbow Row and onto the water's edge we took a moment to catch our breath at a small outlook - minutes later, the breath was knocked out of me when Lee took me by the hand and got down on one knee. What he said in between is somewhat fuzzy as I immediately began a spell of simultaneous laughter and crying my eyes out (that lasted about an hour after as well) - but those words, "Cherie, will you marry me?" ... those words were the clearest... and after a moment of forgetting how to say yes, I finally did.

There are so many words to describe that one word and honestly I'm not sure there are enough words to even put the day into perspective - this I do know: A little over four years ago, the Lord threw me a curveball when he placed Lee into my life, and now today, I have the utmost joy in saying that I'm marrying my best friend and the adventure has only just begun.

I literally was combusting from excitement. I think I squealed for like 30 minutes after this picture was taken!

How did your significant other propose? Was it a surprise?

Did you immediately say "yes" too?
