Hey ladies! Happy Friday eve! Over the weekend, L. and I had an awesome opportunity to meet with our wedding planner; the person kind, of course. Elena of Laurel Avenue Events + Design gave us the sweetest consultation in which she made us get down to the nitty gritty details on not just wedding stuff, but our love for one another as well. It was such a good experience to be able to get on a deeper level of looking back on where we came from as well as where we are headed. It helped us to realize that while season of engagement is fun "planning" wise it is all pretty amazing, relationship wise. We took that to heart this weekend and did the things that we love to do. We hope that you to heart our five tips for having fun while engaged and incorporate them in your own relationship!
Check out the best ways to make sure you have fun on this wild ride called wedding planning!
#1 /// Do something he likes. I think it's super easy for we ladies to get comfortable in the guy letting us go where and do what we want to - flip the coin and do his favorite thing for the day - compromise and respect for one another is always key.
#2 /// Do something unexpected. For part of the day, I found myself stressing over everything that had to be done - to remind ourselves that something awesome was well on it's way, we snuck into our venue. It was the perfect combination of troublemaking (without the law) and adventure.
#3 /// Stay fit together. This is something that L. and I have definitely been enjoying this past year. He and I have both committed ourselves to getting active and staying healthy. While there are slip ups at our favorite restaurants and weeks where working out simply doesn't fit in, we still make it a goal to make sure it's a habit we make and keep. Everyone wants to be sweating for the wedding, but keep in mind a wedding is just one day and healthy habit building now is important for the real adventure: marriage.
#4 /// Have a meal and don't talk about the wedding. It is so stinkin' easy to get caught up in wedding conversation. Elena gave us a date list challenge to complete seven different dates without saying a single word about the wedding. We decided to try a quiet dinner night where we chowed down on lemon chicken without a worry in the world regarding wedding stuff. What became of it? Silly faces, sauce making competitions, and impromptu dance lessons in the kitchen.
#5 /// Commit to encourage. When life is flying at you one million miles per hour, you have to constantly remind one another that encouragement is so crucial. It can be more than easy to feel inadequate financially, career wise, emotionally, and more. This week, L. and I decided it was time to take our prayer time about the future more seriously. If you're looking for something different, talk about what one another needs - whether it be a daily text, act of service, or whatever fits the both of you - figure it out, and stick to it!
