First things first, how did you and your significant other meet?

We met out dancing with friends

How did he propose? Was it a surprise?

Totally. It was better than a Nicholas Sparks novel. He surprised me with hair and makeup done at a salon in Newport RI. A driver picked me up and brought me Castle Hill Inn on the water to a private beach house. On the bed inside was a dress he picked out for me and a love note to meet him at the light house. I made an adventure in my dress and carrying my heels through a path to the lighthouse. As I came over the clearing there was my love dressed in a navy tuxedo waiting for me by the water. I made my way down to him and the rest is a blur. I was giddy. I barely recall his words of love and asking me to be his bride. After the first kiss he turned me around and there on the cliff behind us were two photographers capturing the most precious moment. We then spent the next few hours engulfed in each other taking pics with the ocean behind us. It was simply breathtaking.

At what point did the two of you start to incorporate fitness into our routine? Or, was fitness something that started for you prior to meeting?

Fitness is what I do for a living as a virtual online coach, a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. Ryan and I both head to the gym together but often do separate workouts. He enjoys lifting and playing basketball. I love HIIT cardio and strength training. Fitness gives me life and I worked out on our wedding day and we worked out every day on our honeymoon together. We enjoy living a healthy lifestyle together.

What's your favorite fitness activity? Do you and your significant other do the same sport?

I love teaching my classes but I also enjoy my own workouts. Intense HIIT or heavy lifting. It fuels me and makes me feel empowered.

What prompted your interest in the aforementioned activity? How long have you been doing it now?

I’ve been a coach and instructor for 5+ years. I grew up with gymnastics and playing soccer and ran cross country in high school. Ryan grew up playing basketball. Being active has always been a part of who we are.

What is your goal with participating in this particular sport or activity? To get stronger, lose weight, or for pure enjoyment?

We both love to see what we are capable of. Building strength and pushing our bodies and minds is important to us both. Fitness gives me life so it’s certainly an activity I truly enjoy.

What exactly does training for this sport entail? Can you describe some of the exercises/movements?

With my HIIT classes it’s a lot of core strength, speed and agility. With my strength training classes it’s working each muscle main muscle group. My personal workouts are a combination of HIIT and speed with heavy strength training. Muscle is sexy and a sign of strength and dedication.

How has this sport/activity changed your body? Are you happy with those changes?

I love what it’s done for my body but mostly my mindset and confidence. Years ago I was a cardio only girl and believed the myth that strength training and muscle would make me bulky. It’s quite the opposite. I have more muscle, more curves and definition. I have a stronger back and defined abs. I love lifting iron and the changes it’s made in my body.

Is this sport/activity a big part of your relationship? In what ways?

Yes. We both go to the gym together daily at 5am. We both enjoy lifting and some days lift together. We each have separate goals and encourage each other along the way as we reach our set out goals. We also one year played on a coed softball team together for fun!

Do you relate any elements of this sport/activity to marriage?

Yes. It’s a great way to work together. To challenge each other to strive to be our best. We spot each other and push through the burn together the same way we do when we face life’s obstacles. It’s team work to make the dream work.

Do you plan to add any touches to your wedding day that are representative of your love for this sport/activity?

I was able to rock the wedding dress of my dreams. I had fun and got in some push-ups and one arm push-ups in a full wedding dress and heels. We also had two dances. We did a waltz for our first dance and a fun mash up for our last dance that included the lift from Dirty Dancing in the song “I’ve had the time of my life.”

What's your favorite workout?

Insanity. It’s my soulmate workout and one of the classes I teach. It was the first personal workout I did that increased my stamina and strength.

If you don't mind, I'd like to ask you about your diet, too. Do you follow a particular program, such as the Zone Diet, Paleo, Whole30, etc?

I am an online coach and use our shakeology daily which has helped me digestive issues. I follow a low carb higher healthy fat and grass fed pasture raised protein diet and lots of green veggies. I drink black coffee and I don’t drink. The hubby drinks but not a lot. Fueling my body with nature’s best makes me feel my best and allows me to give peak performance. I also strongly support whole30 and paleo.

What's your favorite go-to snack?

Shakeology or chicken & avocado or a healthy treat quest nutrition protein bars

What's your favorite non-health food? (Ice cream, candy, or perhaps a cocktail?)

Tostitos chips

What's your next fitness goal?

a bikini competition

Where do you see you and your hubby in 10 years from now? Dream big!

I would have competed in a few shows and won at least 1. I will still be teaching group fitness classes and my online B.B. coaching business will be a six-figure business. I love inspiring others to take control of their health and join my team, help others and achieve their financial dreams too!
