workout clothes

Fashion Friday: Zulily

Zulily I haven't posted a Fashion Friday round-up in awhile but lately I have been eyeing the various styles of workout pants offered over on Zulily -- are you a member?

Zulily offers a big selection of discounted name brand items -- everything from women's clothes and shoes to household items and a lot of baby and maternity items as well. Of everything offered on Zulily, the workout clothes are usually what peak my interest.

The way it works is that there are "Events" hosted by Zulily from various name brands. The Events are time-sensitive and don't last forever, which is why sometimes there's a big tug for me to go ahead and purchase something because the Event could be ending soon!

Most of the items in this round-up are from The Bottom Line, but there's often 2 or 3 "events" from fitness retailers at once -- so there's always a lot to chose from. There's always pretty good brands, too -- Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, TOMS, Oakley, and UnderArmor, just to name a few. The latest is from Vera Bradley!

Fashion Friday: Winter Workout Style

FashionFriday_WinerStyle Alright, truth time: I've been struggling to get to the gym this week!

I'm not sure if it's because I started a new job and I'm dealing with a totally new routine (including a horrendous commute) or whether it's the freezing cold keeping me away! Whatever it is, it's time to snap out of it!

Working out is my way of decompressing from the day. It's MY hour. An hour I don't really think, I just do. And when it's up and the endorphins are flowing I always feel so good. So refreshed! Now that I've started a new job I need that more than ever so the excuses have got to go! I was thinking a little fitness fashion might help the nudge! I love H&M workout clothes!! They're super affordable (~$25) and cute! I love these long-sleeve tops; perfect for winter workouts! AND THESE PANTS (also $25). LOVE! This down vest by NorthFace is quite a bit more expensive ($100) but TOTALLY WORTH IT. Hello warmth!

I've been wanting a pair of neutral colored Nanos, too. I love the porcelain! If I snag them they'll be my third pair! I think it's safe to say I'm making strides in improving my workout wardrobe. Woo hoo!

Fashion Friday with Fabletics

Truth: I went shopping for Christmas gifts at Target. Spent $115. And walked out with one gift... two pillows, a sweater, and robe for myself. The struggle is REAL y'all! Buying only for others this holiday season!  It sounds so vain, but it's true. I can help but look, right? Anyone else experiencing this?

Another truth: Workout clothes are Target are really, really cute. I spent about 15 minutes browsing the activewear section, but you know what my issue is? Mixing, matching, and deciding what goes together! And what goes with what's already in my closet. It makes all the beautiful clothes suddenly feel very overwhelming!

This is the reason I recently became a member of Fabletics! Have you heard of it? I haven't bought anything yet, but the reviews are great: Lululemon-quality pants at a third of the price; pre-styled outfits (I love that part); and curated looks picked specially for your workout style sent directly to you. Opt to buy one of those outfits or, opt to skip the month. Whatever you do, you won't be spending more than about $50 per outfit. Yep, PER THE ENTIRE OUTFIT! Sounds pretty cool, huh? The clothes are cute, too!

Supposedly Fabletics has other perks too, through the VIP program; even refer-a-friend cash back. I'm so intrigued! Maybe like the capsule, this is the end of my workout wardrobe woes?

Are you just as hesitant to style your workout wardrobe?

Have you heard of Fabletics?

PS: I'm really, really into these New Balance Retro Sneakers!! Who would have ever thought these were going to come back in style??

Fashion Friday & The Open Announcement 14.4

Hey guys! Happy Friday! I can't tell you how happy I am this week is over - I finally threw in the towel this morning and I'm home sick from work. I wish I could enjoy this day and the warmer temperatures coming to DC, but blah! I'm still sick! Anyway, did you see the Open Announcement for 14.4? It looks AWESOME! Aaron and I have been watching the Open Announcement each week and we got pumped last night watching Josh Bridges - he's a beast! (And when I saw we got pumped, I mean as pumped as you can get between tea, tissues, and lots of NyQuil.) I was also really excited to hear that the Open Announcement for next week features Rich Fronning and Samatha Briggs! It's going to be so fun to watch!

The bad news is that we have to go out of town this weekend so I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do the Open at my box like usual. (Insert sad face!) I don't think I can handle doing it today being sick, but I have to find some time at some point!

I love that 14.4 involves cleans - they're my favorite! I'm not so thrilled about the toes-to-bar, which I find extremely difficult! There's also no way I can do a muscle-up, but the first half of the workout so be fun anyway!

I also love that I have an excuse to buy more workout clothes! I've been really committed to that lately and last week, had a fun time at Old Navy trying a few things on:

2014-03-21_0001 2014-03-21_0002 2014-03-21_0003I ended up buying the pink outfit, which I think looked much better in the dressing room than it did the day of the Open, but whatever! I'm thinking about going back for the two middle shirts - I really love the material and they're comfortable! Shop Old Navy here. (They're offering 30 percent off with the coupon code THANKS)

Lately I'm loving anything neon! I think it's because I'm so desperate for spring and summer!

So, I'm curious, are you watching the Open Announcements?

Last year I wasn't doing CrossFit at this time and didn't watch the Open. I only caught the tail-end of the games, but I have to say, watching these various athletes perform has been really inspiring! It's been helpful too - I think watching this open announcement really helped me with my snatch form!

How about you? Do you watch CrossFit videos for helpful tips?

Workout Clothes: Come On Spring

Good morning guys and happy weekend! Since my Get Motivated March series bumped Fashion Friday yesterday I thought I'd pop in today with this #comeonspring look I put together! I really love these colors and cannot wait to be able to walk outside in shorts and a tank top! I'm so over the cold! The good news is that it's supposed to be in the 60s in DC today, so I'm looking forward to that!ComeonspringI'm not as pumped about 14.2 as I was about 14. 1 because the workout requires chest-to-bar pull-ups and I can't even do regular pull-ups! However, I'm still excited to spend my Saturday at my box cheering on the other competitors! I'm bringing my camera again, as well so next week there will be a full recap of the event! I also want to share that a few things change for me next week... as some of you may know, I work for the Federal Government. I've been at the same agency for 4 years, but I was recently granted to opportunity to go on a detail! A detail is a fancy Government word meaning a temporary job assignment! So, beginning Monday, I will be working in a new office with new people doing a different type of work. I'm really excited about it and looking forward to the change, but with change comes challenges as well! I'm leaving behind my work gym and salad club (sniff, sniff)! I'm looking forward to experimenting, though and incorporating some new habits into my routine!

Fashion Friday: Barbell babe

Evening, fit fam! I just returned from CrossFIt and boy, was it ever challenging! I started to feel defeated as I was leaving (I wanted to get more rope climbs - I got one! And I wanted to get double unders - I can't - for the life of me!! - string them together!), but then I realized, hey, you went! You got ONE! You tried! That's what matters, right? And, we didn't pick up a barbell, so that's probably why I didn't really enjoy the workout. :) That's normal, right? Haha. How about this barbell babe tank? Barbell-Babe

I love that this Barbel Babe Tank comes in so many colors! Also shown: C9 by Champion Yoga Pants from Target and Beast Mode Weight Lifting Gloves (on sale right now)! I've had these Nike Free 5.0 Running Shoes on my want-list for awhile!

The other annoying thing about tonight (and then I'll stop complaining - I promise!), is that I had nothing to wear for the workout! We're a little behind on laundry and well, my workout wardrobe needs work! I ended up wearing my funky leggings, but in total, I think that's one pair of 3 workout pants I own, and that's just crazy considering how often I workout!

In other news, you might notice my new logo! I totally love it! I'm making a few other small changes here and there, so my apologizes if the site is acting wonky when you stop by! Have a great weekend, friends!

Do you ever feel so-so about your workouts?

Fashion Friday: Printed Leggings

Good morning and happy Friday!! You guys have probably come to expect a Fashion Friday post from me today, sharing cute workout outfits, and I've really come to love this feature. I'm obsessed with sourcing cool workout clothes online and if you haven't already, you should definitely follow my Workout Clothes board on Pinterest! It's always growing! However, despite my online obsession, my wardrobe isn't the best reflection of all my pins. In fact, my workout wardrobe is pretty lame! It's old gym clothes, a few pieces off the sale rack from Target and Old Navy -- nothing fancy... Until recently! On Black Friday last year I went to the Under Armor outlet in Williamsburg and picked up a pair of super funky, printed leggings - pink printed leggings! - and though deep down, I loved them and wanted to be THAT girl that wore the cool workout gear, I was totally nervous about them! The first time I did actually (I wore them to CrossFit - you can see a picture of them here), I turned to my husband in a panic and asked, "Do these look ridiculous?" To which he responded, "No! Those are hot!" Of course, I wanted to take his word for it but I still felt pretty self-conscious, then, something weird happened: the workout started - heavy cleans and box jumps - I got hot, sweaty, into my workout mode, and all the sudden -- felt totally badass in my new digs!! HELL YEA PRINTED LEGGINGS! Lol!

I think working out is a lot about having a can-do attitude and looking the part can really enhance your experience. Who's with me? I put together this collage of other funky leggings - they're a bit pricey, but I'd like to start building my workout wardrobe to match my posts! I'd love to know: which is your favorite?

Note: The Stripes Chaturanga Pants not shown in the Product Grid below are available here.

Fashion Friday: Juicy Couture Sportswear

Happy Friday!! I'm so glad the weekend is near, friends! It's been a busy one and there's still so much to do! I'm working on finishing up the Salad club ebook, getting a new logo, and revamping the website - yes, yet again! Please bear with me! I'm committed to evolving this site into the best it can be! With that said, I'm also committed to evolving my (very boring) workout wardrobe! :)  And what better way than to get decked in cheetah print, gold, and hot pink? Hell yea, right? Well, for all that and more, look no further than Juicy Couture's new sportswear line. I'm totally obsessed! Cheetah print? Black & White stripes? Hot pink and catch phrases? This is THE blogger chic workout gear if you ask me! Juicy-Couture

Also, psst... that black and white bag is 40 percent off!

Researching Juicy Sport online, I stumbled across these gorgeous campaign images on The Chriselle Factor -these images will surely inspire you to get out and get moving in a fashionable way!

And PS, how am I just discovering Chriselle's amaaaaazing work? Excuse me while I spend the rest of the day scrolling through her gorgeous blog!

What do you think of the Juicy Couture's new sportswear?

Are you into wearing cheetah print while you workout?

Fashion Friday: Pink & Yellow

Getting back to working out after nine days away has been a litle rough, but I'm determined to get back into my routine. Two of my biggest workout motivations are music and clothes -- what can I say, I'm a girly girl -- and I'm excited to wear new nanos to CrossFit this weekend!  ... And finally retire the sneakers I ran a marathon in two years ago! (It was definitely their time to go!) These Fashion Friday posts have been a great resource for me for shopping for workout clothes, because well, I'm not really the shopping type. You guys know my wardrobe has major holes and workout clothes is one of them! The last few months I've focused more on casual clothes because that's what was lacking the most in my closet but, I'm going to try to add more workout clothes to my wardrobe this year -- I workout enough! I should have more than 3 sports bras, sheesh! And why not have a cute zipfront one like this?

Spalding Women's Leggings // Nike Women's LunarGlide 5 Print // Nike Women's Pro Zipfront Bra // AMC Women's Lace Razorback Tank

Are you into workout clothes?

Do they motivate you?

Fashion Friday: 12 Days of Christmas WOD

Hey friends! Can you believe it's the Friday before Christmas? Woo hoo! To be totally honest, things have been really stressful lately as we try to prepare for our trip to Italy. I'm so excited but there's a million other things going on like hosting my family for Christmas, traveling to see Aaron's family, my car (I got in an accident about 2 weeks ago and I'm driving a rental), plus work. It feels VERY hectic right now and I'm struggling just to keep up with my laundry! Let alone the more important stuff! Haha.

However, there has been one saving grace - CrossFit. For me, personally, CrossFit has been the best way to destress. During that hour I'm at CrossFit, I'm mentally and physically challenged by the movements, and I don't have time to think about my to do list! That, my friends, is the biggest relief!

So, when I heard my box was doing a crazy workout they call the 12 Days Before Christmas, this Saturday, I knew it was just what I needed to get through the weekend and my mounting holiday stress! Now, I'm not exactly sure what all the 12 Days of Christmas workout entails, but I do know the gist is the pretty much the same everywhere: Complete 1, then 1&2, then 1&2&3, and so on till you get to 12. Here's the 12 Days of Christmas workout they did at Outlaw CrossFit last year:

1 Clean and jerk 2 Muscle ups 3 Box jumps 4 Hang squat snatch 5 Bar facing burpees 6 Push Press 7 Pistols 8 Toes to bar 9 Wall balls 10 Chest to bar pull ups 11 Handstand push ups 12 Front Squats

*GULP!* It's definitely going to be brutal!

I thought it'd be fun to tie in this week's Fashion Friday with this crazy workout, cause red and green stripe socks make a tough workout easier, right? :)

Guns Tank / Christmas Socks / Nike Shorts / Nike Free TR Fit 2 Black / Holiday Headband

The 12 Days of Christmas Workout is scheduled for tomorrow morning so I'm taking tonight off from CrossFit to prepare. This evening I hope to work on blog-related tasks, such as returning emails and scheduling blog posts for while I'm away! There WILL be content on the blog everyday through to the New Year!

Thank you to those who completed my reader survey! If you haven't, please, please take a minute to provide your feedback! It's so helpful!

How do you deal with stress during the holiday?

Fashion Friday: CrossFit Nano 3.0s and a Crop Top

Good morning and happy Friday! I woke up with the sorest biceps and forearms today! They're so tight I can hardly straighten my arms! Yikes! I think it's the after-effect of this crazy workout that consisted of 90 pull-ups. I used bands but nevertheless, it was obviously quite effective! Screen Shot 2013-12-13 at 8.49.56 AM

I've been wanting a pair of CrossFit Nanos for awhile, but I'm not picky - I'll take the CrossFit Nano 2.0s. My hubby on the other hand, has been insisting we get the CrossFit Nano 3.0s for the "RopePro wraps," and who am I to argue? My rope climbs could use all the help they can get! Plus, I love the two-tone pink pair shown here. Perfect with all black workout ensemble, funky knee socks, and a crop top with bold white "DOPE" lettering.

Headband //  Reebok Socks // Dope Croptop  // Forever 21 Leggings // CrossFit Nano 3.0s

Speaking of crop tops. How do you feel about wearing them in the gym? I'm not that brave, but maybe one day! :)

Happy weekend friends!

Must-Have Motivational T-Shirts

Hey guys! Happy Friday! How are you? I've been doing great, but I've been busy, too! There's a lot happening behind-the-scenes over here! My mind has been reeling since the Blogging as a Business Seminar with Meg Biram, and because I have so many ideas, I'm needed to alot more time for those projects. That means less time for blogging! :( I hope you'll understand this is an intentional effort to bring you better content, though, and not at all me being neglectful. Hope you're as excited as me for what's around the ben - it's a lot! 2014 is going to be a GREAT year!

So, anyway, you guys know I love creating workout outfits, and my inspiration comes from all the awesome motivational t-shirts out there. There's so many I decided to compile a list of favorites - or rather, a list of must-haves! Here they are:

 NoBull Woman Apparel

Everyday I'm Hustlin / Act Like a Lady

Train Insane / Suck it up buttercup

Work in Progress / Train like a beast

You Got This / Fck being fat

Fashion Friday: Customize Reebok Shoes

It's FRRRRRRIDAY! That's how I feel today! Super excited that it's FRIDAY, the weekend is upon us, and Monday is a holiday! Woo hoo! I'm already planning out the days to get in everything I want to do, like meal prep, crossfit, and some picture-taking for the blog!  I'm also pretty excited because I think Fit for a Bride had a fabulous week! There was the interview with Gina about giving up sugar on Monday, and our citrus chicken recipe with Kit yesterday; not to mention a beautiful real engagement and real wedding! As you can see, I'm not holding anything back anymore! I have a lot of content stored up and I'm letting it loose!

You might notice a few small changes on the blog, too. I've added buttons on my sidebar so that you can easily get to posts about crossfit, my weight loss journey, and salad club! This blog is a constant work in progress - I'm always tweaking it - so please let me know if you say a change you really like or don't (wink wink, Kristy)!

Victoria Secret T-Shirt  / Reebok Shorts & Sneakers /  H&M Sports Bra / WOD Authority Socks

Did you hear that you can customize Reebok shoes now? I want a pair!

What are your plans for the weekend? Are you off on Monday?

Fashion Friday: Grey & Yellow // Beastmode

I've been in a workout funk lately. I went to CrossFit Monday and Tuesday, but skipped Wednesday and Thursday. My poor mood is a sure sign I need to get back to it ASAP, but sometimes, like today, I still feel the fear and don't want to go!

The reason? Today's WOD (workout of the day) includes rope climbs and pull-ups, both of which I suck at! I know the only way to get better is to do them more often, but part of me wants to avoid them altogether! So, in the spirit of facing the fear and doing it anyway, I'm channeling this Blogilates motivational tank with the phrase beastmode on it! Even though I know I'm a far ways from beastmode, I can do my very best and give it my all; I can at least go and try, which is exactly what I plan to do today! What about you? What's beastmode mean to you?

Grey-WorkoutTank / PUMA Sneakers / Leggings

If you like this outfit, you'll probably like others of I created! All of them are now categorized as "Workout Clothes" under the Menu bar "Fashion/Beauty."

What do you have planned this weekend, friends?

Do you get scared to do different movements or exercises at the gym, too?

Fashion Friday + We Got a New Look!

Hey guys! Notice anything different? It'd be impossible not to! Fit for a Bride got a makeover! Yay! We have a slider now - highlighting popular posts - and I especially love the excerpt layout. Now, rather than scrolling through page after page of the blog, you can easily see all our content, and choose (by clicking an excerpt) what you want to read! Before, I felt like each new post was burying the last, and if you were new to the blog, it'd be impossible to see all that it had to offer - all our recipes and weight loss stories. But not anymore! There's still quite a few kinks that need to be ironed out, so please bear with me. I still need to add featured images to each excerpt and format the various pages (those of have changed too! Now you'll see categories such as weight loss, recipes, fashion/beauty, etc., on the menu bar). I also need to get my sidebar in order!

Speaking of sidebar, you've probably noticed I no longer have an ad on the site. I went back and forth about it whether to keep it or reformat the blog - I had to chose between the two, but ultimately, I realized my reader's experience was far more important than a few dollars a month (I wasn't making that much with the ad anyway). I'll touch on this a little later as more changes come, but for now, I'm pretty excited about our facelift! I'd love to hear what you think.

Now onto our regular scheduled programming - Fashion Friday! Here's a new pink + purple ensemble I put together to for leg day! Though, with crossfit, it feels like everyday is leg day! The squats have felt endless lately, which inspired this outfit:

Tank / Pants / Shoes / Headband

I think for $115 this outfit is a total steal, especially considering it includes a fresh pair of Nikes!

What do you think? Is $115 too much to spend on workout clothes? Even with shoes included?

What do you think of the new layout? Love it? Hate it? Share your thoughts!

Oh, and happy FRIDAY!! By Monday things should be organized around here so don't be a stranger! In the meantime, have a great a weekend!

Fashion Friday: Weight Lifting in Style

Hello there and happy Friday! Today's workout outfit was inspired by the crazy wod I did last Saturday, which made me realize just how much I love the weight lifting portion of CrossFit.

Though you might hear a lot about the sprints, burpees, and pull-ups, there's a whole lotta weight lifting in CrossFit, too, which personally, I LOVE. (Yep, love it with all caps!) It's funny, too because back before my wedding when I first started weight lifting (in a traditional gym with weight machines and free weights) I hated it! Up until a few months ago, I dreaded the weight lifting I'd do with my trainer at lunch, which again, was done in a traditional gym with machines and free weights... Back then, I'd take cardio over chest presses any day!  But now... now that I'm doing olympic lifts - with a barbell - I LOVE IT!

As of today, I've done exactly 20 CrossFit classes and my favorites have been the ones that included hang power cleans, clean and jerks, back squats -- something with the barbell! So when I found this Rack City tank, I squealed! Granted, I'm a long way from really racking my barbell, but I still love this tank. It gives me hope!

I paired it with the Reebok Women's CrossFit Lifter Training Shoes, which I'm also coveting, and a pair of Reebok shorts. Isn't this outfit hot? I LOVE IT!

Solid Olympic Chrome Barbell | Olympic Plate Weight Set

Rack City Tank | Reebok Women's CrossFit Lifter Training Shoe | Reebok CrossFit Board Short

This weekend I'm headed to Williamsburg for a little R&R! Our schedule has been crazy lately because my husband started a new job and we commute to work together now! (That means I get up a lot earlier!) Anyway, I'm hoping to spend some time on the FFAB editorial calendar and schedule some awesome September posts! I'm excited about several new recipes and more industry interviews!

What are your plans this weekend?

Do you like weight lifting?

Fashion Friday: Buck Furpees

Good morning and happy Friday!

Funny story: I used to like burpees. Yep, I said it. I used to love doing them with my personal trainer on my lunch hour at the gym. He'd usually include burpees as part of the "cardio" portion of our workout. (We start with a weight circuit and then move to my favorite part - cardio!)

Then, everything changed... Tuesday's WOD was an 18 minute AMRAP of 5 shoulder-to-overhead lifts and 10 burpees. I got 9 (i.e. 90 burpees), and that's when my hatred for them began!

Buck Burpees

Shorts $24 | Tank $28 | Reeboks $50

What do you think of this not-so-subtle shirt? Would you wear it?

Do you like burpees?

Fashion Friday: Nike Fuel Band {Splurge}

Good morning and happy Friday friends! I hope you had a wonderful Fourth of July celebration! We saw fireworks on the National Mall! It was a spectacular show! This weekend I plan to go grocery shopping and prep for our first official week trying the Paleo lifestyle! I'm excited to meal prep because I haven't done it in awhile, but I'm a little nervous about not having creamer in my morning coffee! Haha. I'm going to pickup some coconut cream and hope I like it! Anyway, stay tuned this weekend (possibly even later today) for a calendar of suggested Paleo meals. If you can clean out your pantry and get to the grocery store this weekend, we'd love for you to start the Whole30 challenge with us beginning THIS monday! More on this to come. Today's workout outfit is a total splurge -- after all, the Fuel Band itself is $150!

I've heard mixed reviews about the Fuel Band, but I've always loved the design. It's super sleek and stylish!

Nike Top $20 / Running Shorts $15 / Fuel Band $150/ Nike Air Max Fusion Training shoe $85

Do you have a Nike Fuel BandWhat do you think of it?

Do you use a Fitbit or Polar?

What's your favorite fitness gadget?

Fashion Friday: Reebok-Crossfit Clothes

Like I mentioned, I'm starting Crossfit soon. In honor of that I thought I'd put together an all-reebok outfit. Reebok is the official crossfit sponsor! Crossfit-Outfit

Fit 2 Kick Ass Top $28 / Reebok Crossfit Chase Short $19 / Reebok Crossfit Racerback Bra $21 / Classic Nylon Slim $55 / Reebok Headband $12

And yes.. I do hope to be wearing those itty bitty shorts one day!

Do you do crossfit?

What do you wear?

Fashion Friday: Pink & Black {Splurge}

Good morning and happy Friday! This week's outfit is a little sassy and over-the-top, but I love it! Aren't these swag pants cute?

Granted, at this point, I would never wear just a sports bra with these pants (to the gym or anywhere!), but if I'm being completely honest, I love the look of a cut-off top, sweats, and high-tops, and I strive to be able to rock it one day!

What's your favorite workout look?

Swag pants $23 / Champion Sports Bra $15 / Supra Sneakers $70

Would you wear just a sports bra to the gym?
