Hi! My name is Sara and I live in Northern Virginia with my husband, Aaron, and our adorable dog, Rocky. I grew up overweight but fell in love with fitness and eating clean in the months leading up to our wedding.
As a newlywed I continued to strive to stay fit and six months after our wedding ran the Philadelphia marathon. In 2013, I was blessed to have my husband Aaron join me in seeking an active lifestyle when we both became members of CrossFit Falls Church.
About Fit for a Bride
The idea for this blog was born out of my love for weddings, fitness, and writing, as well as, of course, my own weight loss journey.

I started Fit for a Bride because I wanted to create a place online where women like me, in the midst of a life milestone, such as marriage, could celebrate the change of healthier living. It started with my own story, but has evolved into so much more since then. I’m truly honored to get to feature CrossFit couples and weight loss success stories. I share healthy tidbits about wedding industry professionals, as well as have regular mom, bride, and newlywed contributors.
I write a lot of about getting into an exercise routine, eating healthier, and having self-confidence. I post recipes and workouts, and try to toss in a little fashion, beauty, and lifestyle posts when I can. (Check out my sponge bun or dry shampoo tutorial!)
I also love to collaborate with photographers and designers to produce unique content for my readers, such as this barre-themed bachelorette party, photographed by Cynthia Kain and featured on Style Me Pretty Living.
I began blogging when I got engaged in 2009 to catalog ideas for my wedding and some of you may know me as Mrs. Brooch on Weddingbee. I blogged every detail! Catch up on those posts over on my blogging page.
